When to go

BestGoodFairPoorClosedCrowds (quiet → packed)February–May: broadest snow coverage, then long high-altitude spring skiing and riding. · Also: July–August: high-alpine scenic lift rides, via ferrata, hiking, wildflowers and aerial adventures when summer operations are running.

Time: Winter: ski or ride a full operating day; arrive 45–60 minutes before lifts open if renting, collecting a Basin Card, taking a lesson, or parking on a weekend. · Summer: use the scenic lift between 9am and 4pm, weather permitting. · Spring: stay into the afternoon for soft snow and the Beach tailgating atmosphere.
Avoid: Avoid expecting full terrain in October–November; high wind, severe cold, storms, and avalanche-control work can close upper lifts and expert terrain quickly.
