Day 1: Trotternish loop from Portree—Old Man of Storr, Staffin, Quiraing, Kilt Rock/Mealt Falls and the north coast.480 min
Start at Storr before 8 a.m.; do not attempt every walk in poor visibility.
Day 2: Cuillin and west coast—Sligachan, then Fairy Pools/Glenbrittle or Elgol.480 min
Use the clearest forecast day for Cuillin views; choose Elgol for sea-level mountain views.
Day 3: North-west coast—Dunvegan, Coral Beach, Neist Point, or a slower Waternish loop.480 min
Do not combine every stop with a long hike; roads and walks take longer than maps suggest.
Day 4 if available: Sleat and south Skye—beaches, woodland, coastal walks and Armadale.420 min
A quieter final day, especially useful around an Armadale ferry arrival or departure.
Portree
The island’s largest service centre and best public-transport base, with local-bus connections, tours, supermarkets, food, fuel, cafés and restaurants. A practical base for Trotternish and central Skye.
Broadford
Useful south/east base near the bridge approach and for arrivals from Armadale; a practical alternative for food, services and exploring southern Skye or the Cuillin.
Uig
Useful northern base or stop on the Trotternish loop; the ferry pier connects Skye with Harris and North Uist.
Armadale
South-Skye ferry gateway for Mallaig and a quieter Sleat base near beaches, woodland and coastal walks; less convenient than Portree for car-free visitors.
Dunvegan
A good base or visit on the quieter north-west/Duirinish side, suited to a coastal day including Coral Beach and Neist Point.
Elgol
A small south-west coastal village worth visiting for close sea-level views towards the Black Cuillin.
Coral Beach
A north-west coastal beach that fits a Dunvegan, Duirinish or Waternish day; a quieter alternative to the main Trotternish circuit.
Talisker Bay
A west-coast beach that pairs well with the Fairy Pools and Sligachan on a Cuillin/west-coast day.
Staffin Bay
A beach and coastal stop on the Trotternish loop, easily combined with the Quiraing, Kilt Rock and Staffin.
