Getting in

• Paro International Airport: Bhutan’s only international airport. The sensible transfer is a pre-arranged hotel/guide vehicle; otherwise take a taxi from the airport into Paro town (roughly 15–20 minutes). There is no useful rail or metro alternative, and published airport-taxi fares are not reliably fixed—agree the fare before leaving.
• Thimphu bus booking / taxi stand: For travelers arriving overland via Thimphu, take a taxi rather than trying to build a day around irregular local transport. Thimphu–Paro takes about 45–60 minutes; Wikivoyage quotes roughly Nu300 per person in a shared taxi or Nu1,200 for a reserved taxi (October 2025).
